Creating a content calendar for any business is a key part to an engaging content marketing strategy. But how do you make sure the content you're posting is original and engaging?

You may already know the importance of adding holidays and observances (if you don’t, check out our blog on the importance of adding holidays like Valentine’s Day, Easter and National Fried Chicken Day here). But do you know the importance of adding events to your content calendar? Read on to see why you should leverage them in your content marketing strategy.

Let your audience know what your company is up to

Posting about events is a great way showcase what's going on with your company outside of the day-to-day work.  People love hearing about the culture that surrounds a company, and telling your audiences about events you're attending or hosting is a great way to do that.

Give your audience a chance to know you and your company on a deeper level

Your social media audience knows a lot about your company through what you post about on social media.  It’s a great way to interact and for them to get to know your company, services, and culture. By posting about events you and your company are attending, it not only helps showcase the event, but shows your audience the causes your team supports and industry topics your team is interested in. This gives your audience a chance to get to know your company in a more personal way.

Promote your community and surrounding area

Every company knows the importance of interacting with the surrounding community.  Growing communities like Fargo-Moorhead have a lot of events going on all of the time. By adding those events to your content calendar, you have an opportunity to post original content while helping promote your local community. Interacting with community social media conversations and events is a great way to create more social interaction and traffic to your social media channels, too.
