Women have been transforming manufacturing for years, though representation remains low. Only 29% of the manufacturing workforce is female, according to Deloitte. This makes excellent women leadership even more vital to attract new female talent.

Examples of strong and smart leadership from women in manufacturing are everywhere. We’ve put together a list of women who influence manufacturing, whether by innovating, founding companies or writing about the industry. These women show true (wo)manpower in the manufacturing space:

 

Allison Grealis

Allison Grealis founded the Women in Manufacturing association. She works to support and promote women in the industry, as well as advocate for changes women want to see in manufacturing.

Indra Nooyi

2. Indra Nooyi, Former Chairman & CEO of PepsiCo, @IndraNooyi

Indra Nooyi is a superstar in the manufacturing world. She’s formerly the CEO of PepsiCo and wields powerful influence on social media. 

Mary Barra

3. Mary Barra, CEO of General Motors, @mtbarra

Mary Barra was the first female CEO of a global automaker. She also worked herself on the assembly line and brought her know-how to lead with a workers-first mind. 

Amy Feldman

4. Amy Feldman, Writer at Forbes, @amyfeldman

Amy Feldman is a writer at Forbes who covers everything related to manufacturing and innovation. She’s an influencer in the industry and has a booming social media presence. 

Patrice Banks

5. Patrice Banks, CEO of Girls Auto Clinic, @girlsautoclinic

Patrice Banks founded the Girls Auto Clinic for women-led car repairs. She’s also a renowned speaker who focuses on women, business leadership, innovation, technology and STEM education.

Jill Jusko

6. Jill Jusko, Senior Editor at IndustryWeek, @JjuskoIW

Jill Jusko is an IndustryWeek editor focused on manufacturing operations. She writes about what manufacturing facilities are doing right by showcasing new innovations in logistics and productivity.

Stephanie Hendrixson

7. Stephanie Hendrixson, Senior Editor of Additive Manufacturing Magazine, @AM_StephanieH

Stephanie Hendrixson is an editor at Additive Manufacturing Magazine, covering a wide range of industry topics and technologies. 

Karen Norheim

8. Karen Norheim, Executive Vice President at American Crane, @karennorheim

Karen Norheim is an award-winning executive at American Crane and advocates for Women in Manufacturing to attract new women to the industry.  

Aneesa Muthana

9. Aneesa Muthana, President & Co-Owner of Pioneer Service, Inc., @AneesaMuthana

Aneesa Muthana co-owns Pioneer Service and has been awarded for excellence in manufacturing. She’s also a role model for young women wanting to start their own manufacturing business.
